The stars of polish printing houses
Heidelberg’s, KBA’s and MAN Roland’s sheet offset machines at our home market
Printing presses are going to be the key attraction of this years drupa trade fair, regarding to the article written by Gareth Ward publicated at http://www.graphicrepro.co.za/asp/results.asp?art=7566 (polish version you may read in this issue of Świat DRUKU page 25) – they are being the key attraction of many significant publishing and printing trade fairs, for the reason that they are the main and most important part of every printing house – it’s not hard to understand, because there cannot exist any manufacture of its kind without at least one printing machine. These kind of presses are very various, and, although in the last period of time the digital and flexo printing have been developing rapidly, I am sure everyone would agree, that the conventional or typical publishing plant contains at least one offset machine, the most often a sheet one (the newspaper print, where we can find the web sort of print, is another, not as popular as this one already mentioned printing sector), but they are using quite often the improvements taken from the web technology, like, for example, rewinding unit or an innovative transversal automatic paper cutting feeder appliances.
Since more than 50 years the printers have been coming to the drupa trade fair, because they wanted to get know, what knew has happened at the sheet offset machines market in the previous four years. Though the Japanese machines such as Komori, Mitsubishi, Ryobi or Shinohara have become more and more popular, the European suppliers Heidelberger Druckmaschinen, MAN Roland and Koenig & Bauer are still leading at this market. The new developed techniques and innovative machines referring to all available formats are the answer of those manufacturers to the problems, that the printer have to deal with in their every day life. Nowadays creating the newest technologies is connected with paying a lot attention to the efficiency – thanks to the better ways of communication in the net, shortened configuration time and more comprehensive machines, that are to such an extent automatic, that can work faster, with larger formats and do not need almost any operating personnel – the printing have become recently even more efficient and productive.
Every four year, when the drupa triad show is taking place, a lot of customers from Poland are coming there to see, what new has lately happened in the printing industry, because in our country the new printing technologies are still demanded and there are also many manufacturers that are very competitive comparing to the other firms of a similar profile and portfolio in the rest of Europe.
After Poland has joined the EU many manufacturers have access to the founds given by this organization and that is why they have the opportunity and money to buy new machines, train new technologies and make new investments.
That is why I have decided to look closer into the newest investments of polish printing houses in sheet offset machines made by just mentioned producers – Heidelberg, MAN Roland and KBA, which are the most popular manufacturers from this branch in Poland. I will not be able to mention every installation, that have recently taken place in Poland, because of at least 2 reasons: first of all we do not have enough place in our magazine not to omit any of them and secondly we did not get the information about all of the machines, that have been installed.
To sum it up: I am going to present you only a few examples of printing machines installed in Poland in the alphabetical order.

In the last part of my review of the most important installations of sheet offset printing machines in Poland, I would like to point out the installations of MAN Roland’s, that is in Poland represented by MAN Roland Polska sp. z o.o.

In 2005 there has been also the first in Poland large format offset printing machine MAN Roland 900 XXL in Print&Display (Polska) printing house, one of the biggest printing houses in Poland.
In my opinion the newest installations of MAN Roland are also worth mentioning by the end of this article. In this month in Zakład Poligraficzno-Wydawniczy Pozkal in Inowrocław there is going a celebration to take place, because of few new machines, that have been installed, and these are: MAN Roland’s 708 and 505. This investition is another stage of bringing in new technologies to this printing house. This investment is being supported by Sektorowy Program Inwestycyjny “Wzrost konkurencyjności przedsiębiorstw, lata 2004–2006”, that is connected withgaining European Union’s funds. This program is supporting the investments in many branches.
Polish printing houses are buying new printing machines and bringing up new technologies, mainly thanks to the UE funds. What kind of machines the polish printers will like most at this years drupa triad fair – we will get know soon. It is also worth mentioning, that polish printers go to the international trade shows not only to watch the machines, but first of all to buy them. This year’s drupa fair is taking place in the time, when polish industry is fast developing, that is why there are going to be many new machines bought for polish manufacturers.
